Bill Sanford has studied drawing and painting in
a variety of media since 1974, when he began by sketching birds. His
paintings reflect his interest in the natural environment, people, and animals.
An Austin resident for more than thirty years, he has participated in many group shows in the area, including at Chase Bank, Lakeway Resort, and
the U.T. Bass Concert Hall. He has also had solo exhibitions at the U. T. Health Science Center in San
Antonio, Texas State University in San Marcos, and various commercial establishments.
Paintings are in
the permanent collections of UTHSC-SA and The Center for Child Protection (Austin). Paintings have also been donated
to support the Austin AIDS Emergency Fund.
Bill has a PhD from The University of Texas at Austin. He has been a teacher, a college professor, and a State of Texas bureaucrat. For sixteen years he served as Assistant Commissioner for the Texas Higher Education
Coordinating Board. Now he paints, travels, and enjoys life with his wife Julie,
four cats and Jake, their dog.
